Mak-Pak: Take-away packaging made from macro algae

March 2018 saw the start of the two year research project Mak-Pak in cooperation with research institute Alfred-Wegener Institut (AWI),  Hochschule Bremerhaven and fish restaurant and fast food chain Nordsee GmbH with the aim to produce a compostable and edible pack for on the go food made from algae.

An Alternative to the Champagne Gift Box by Ruinart

A pioneering, 100%-recyclable ‘second skin’ case has been launched by Maison Ruinart in the UK to replace its use of gift boxes for the Rosé and Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. Recently, Ruinart has launched an eco-friendly alternative to the Champagne gift box, after two years of research and development.

Berlin Now Has a City-Run Recycling Department Store

In a bid to dramatically reduce waste, the Berlin government launched a facility in September that could be the first of its kind: a state-run department store that both sells items that might otherwise get thrown away and acts as an education centre encouraging repair and reuse. The secondhand shop is a new spin on the city’s efforts to make re-use and repair a way of life.

EU Climate Chief Says Now’s the Time for Jumbo Green Bond Sale

The European Union’s climate chief says rising demand for green bonds creates an opportunity for the bloc, which is expected to start selling as much as 225 billion euros ($266 billion) of the securities.
