From Paper Roots to Sustainable Revolution: The Envopap Story

In the vibrant city of Pune, India, a legacy of paper and packaging was on the verge of sparking a global environmental movement. This is the story of Kaushal, our founder, whose journey transformed from a family enterprise into a beacon of sustainable packaging innovation.

A Legacy Unfolds
Kaushal's story begins with his grandfather in 1965 when he laid the foundation of a family business in paper and packaging. Little did they know that this venture would one day sprout wings and soar towards a greener horizon. In 2012, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Kaushal joined the family business, eager to learn and contribute.

The Spark of Innovation
Two years into the family business, Kaushal's thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Southampton in England. It was here, amidst academic rigour and global exposure, that the seeds of Envopap were sown. Travelling to packaging expos and engaging with industry experts, Kaushal's eyes were opened to a world crying out for sustainable packaging solutions.

A Problem Becomes an Opportunity
Back in India, Kaushal witnessed firsthand the environmental havoc wreaked by agricultural residue burning. The stark reality hit home:- Millions of tonnes of crop waste burned annually- Severe air pollution choking cities like Delhi- Accelerated melting of Himalayan glaciers- Deforestation because of paper productionHe envisioned a future where agricultural waste could be transformed into eco-friendly packaging and flexible packaging materials, tackling multiple environmental issues in one stroke.

The Birth of envoPAP
Armed with a vision and fueled by passion, Kaushal dove into rigorous research and development. Collaborating with leading scientists and innovators, he worked tirelessly to turn his dream into reality.  In 2015, Envopap was born, launching its first product - Envocopy, a sustainable printing paper that would soon make waves across the globe.

From Dorm Rooms to Global Impact
Envopap began in a university dormitory in Southampton and has since expanded to offices in London, Pune, and Mumbai.

Since 2015, the company has generated over £15 million in revenue and established a global presence in over 60 countries. It has formed partnerships across more than 15 territories in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. In 2019, Envopap attained B-Corp certification for its commitment to social and environmental performance.

Founder's Note

Dear Friends and Fellow Innovators,

When I started Envopap nine years ago, I had a simple vision: transforming agricultural waste into a force for good, empowering farmers and nurturing our planet. Today, as I reflect on our journey, I'm filled with profound gratitude and excitement for what we've accomplished and the road ahead.

Our story began with a challenge: mountains of agricultural residue burning across India, choking our cities and accelerating climate change. Where others saw waste, we saw an opportunity. This spark ignited a revolution in sustainable packaging that has since spread across continents. Envopap is a material innovation powerhouse dedicated to helping businesses transition to sustainable packaging solutions. We're not just changing products; we're transforming mindsets and reshaping industries.

Every innovation, product, and partnership we initiate is focused on significantly reducing carbon emissions. We're working to lessen the dependence on finite materials in packaging, demonstrating that sustainability can align seamlessly with quality. By collaborating with forward-thinking designers, we create groundbreaking packaging solutions that minimize material use while ensuring functionality, transit readiness, and visual appeal. Our commitment ensures that our materials serve their intended purpose without overstaying their welcome. With various end-of-life options, we effectively close the loop on waste and prevent our products from lingering in the environment.

As we step into our next chapter, our vision expands. We're setting our sights on new markets, ready to partner with forward-thinking companies that see sustainability not as a trend but as an integral part of their DNA.

To our partners, customers, and the Envofamily - thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Your trust and collaboration have been the wind beneath our wings.

To those yet to join us - the future of packaging is here, and it's green. Are you ready to make the switch?

Let's pack a better future together.

Warmly,

Kaushal Kiran Shah
