Dear Climate Changers!
As the season begins to change in much of the world, there is plenty of relief, joy and wonder. In much of the Northern Hemisphere, the beauty of autumn brings relief from the record-breaking temperatures and the drought, while for the Tropics marks the end of the monsoon and flood risks for a few more months, giving time to repair and recuperate. But our wonder and joy in October was in the Southern Hemisphere, led by Australia where the New South Wales government announced a ban on single use plastic items.
In the UK, responsible packaging exhibition, which the envoteam attended, heralded a raft of new and amazing innovations and ideas. From bio-degradable to reusable, Agricultural waste to seaweed, the expo was a hive of activity, with products made from all sorts of nature. Perhaps there is hope to prevent more microplastics entering our food chain. While the business community continued to explore all options to fight climate change, politicians and leaders were preparing to take carbon emitting flights to the warm shores of Sharm El-Sheikh, to discuss carbon saving, world saving climate plans at the COP 27. Perhaps, it will be in Africa where actions speak louder than words – we will be watching and rooting for it!
