IRENA Forges UAE Sustainable Finance Pact

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and global financial centre Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) have signed a memorandum of understanding for both parties to commit to advancing sustainable finance across the UAE and the Middle East. This engagement with one another will facilitate investment in renewable energy, enable the increased development of a sustainable finance ecosystem that includes clean power. Additionally, this maintains the support of any ongoing initiatives relating to sustainability.

How the Middle East is Shifting to A Sustainable Future

Many economies in the Middle East rely on their production and export of fossil fuels for their economies and ensuing activity. Nevertheless, there has been an increase in sustainable developments with some governments expediting investments in renewables including solar and waste to energy. A notable development as Saudi Arabia’s implementation of a $28 billion renewable energy development programme. This programme offers loans for clean energy projects and the manufacturers of  le energy components.

UAE Developer Seals 700MW Egypt Green Build

UAE-based AMEA Power is to build a 500MW wind farm and 200MW solar plant in Egypt after securing power purchase agreements with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the projects.

When It Comes to Packaging Design, Innovation and Circularity, Agthia has A Lot of Bottle

An entirely plant-based water bottle is launched at the same time as a pact to increase PET recycling rates in the UAE, and with a reduction in CO2 emissions resulting in an improved environmental footprint. The entirely plant-based water bottle was unveiled on the sidelines of the Gulfood exhibition in Dubai in February 2020.
